Sharing Thought

Dear Residents
Enclosed is an email from a resident on an attempted break-in on 28th June 2009.
Dear En. Mohd Noh Samik,

Just to share with you & rest of SS19 residents & friends.

This morning at around 5.45AM, a guy was spotted at back lane of SS19/1H, trying to attempt a break in thru kitchen window. He was knocking against the window grill (assume to see if the alarm was still active).

However, he fled upon hearing some noise. Called Mr. Suresh (pro tem committee member) who in turn alarmed the security guards and both reached shortly.

What was really disappointing was I also called SS17 police station (tel : 03 5633 2222) at 5.50AM to inform of this unwelcomed visitor and also providing them with my contact details, no patrol cars nor police were seen.
I too have something to share, on Monday 27/7/09 my friend lost his Myvi at Bukit Bintang. He had earlier parked his car at a parking lot beside a condominium in the morning which is about 5 minutes walk to the office. He only noticed the car was missing at about 6pm when he was about to go home. Unfortunately his house keys was also inside the car and it costs him RM150 to get the locksmith to break his house lock. My friend also did not put on the steering lock, thinking the area was safe as it was near a guard post beside the condominium.
We can learn few important lessons from these events.
  1. Do not leave any house key inside the car. If the car got stolen, the criminal can have access to your house. We normally have bills inside our car which contain our address
  2. Do not leave your house keys or auto gate switch inside the car when you sent for servicing or washing. It takes only a few minute to duplicate the key and auto gate switch.
  3. ALWAYS used the steering lock or brake lock because criminal does not wants to waste time unlocking the lock.

Comments and advices are welcome.

A Little Humour Please

Hi Residents

Mr. Lau, one of our committee member suggested that we should lighten up the contents of this blog instant of focusing on the security issues. I tend to agreed with him because the very reason why this blog was first created was to create as a platform of communication between residents of SS19/1 and to bring up any topic of interest and dicussion amongst the community. We were focusing much on security and safety because that was and still our first priority.
So to lighten things up, here are some of jokes contributed by Mr. Lau title "Wife"for us to relax. Enjoy.

Security Personnel Doing His Job

On 14th July at 2 pm the security personnel on patrol spotted an individual jumping over the fence at a house in 19/1F. He immediately followed to the house and try to alert the house owner by ringing the bell but there was no response. As the gate was wide opened he went to knock the door. When the owner came out he informed the owner what has happened. The security personnel was scolded for trespassing and lectured on how to do his job. The guy who jumped over the fence was his son. In this case the security personnel was just doing his job. He did not know the guy was the member of the house. The house owner also did not prescribe to our security protocol.

Security and Safety

Dear Residents

Today one resident went around all the guard post and asked the guard to remove the cones. I don't understand why this resident is willing to do such a thing when all of these are meant for the safety of the residents and the wishes of the majority. We sometime take security and safety for granted much so to those who have not encounter such an incident. I and my wife have encountered several incidents such as snatch and car theft and we knew crime can occured anytime either to ourselve or our family.

Probably it wise for me to publish (with permission) post extracted from the SJ Alert the crimes happening in Subang Jaya and USJ and how lucky we are.

TIMBER LADDER LEFT BY GRASS CUTTERS
Few months back, there was an attempted break in to my house. Fortunately, the house alarm triggered. I reported this to the security guards and they patrol the back of my house. They found a timber ladder hidden under the bushes left by the burglars. I suspected the ladder was left purposely by grass cutters (men) for their night activities. They used the ladder to climb over the fence at the back of my house.

Dear all,

There was a break-in in SS18 (near the school) last Saturday or Sunday
when the owner was away. I was doing a walking together with another
resident when we passed by the resident's house. Police were there
during that time to take reports. Some electrical items were stolen
and most amazing is that the burglars cart away a safe deposit box.

Namaste,

Dear Robert,

For your information, my brother-in-law and his friend recieved phone call from a chinaman (china national) demanding money claiming that they have their children kidnap. They have full information on the kid details.... At the background they heard a kid's plea for help and crying. My brother-in-law was smart to check on his son and found that his son was safe at home. His friend also smart asking to speak direct to the kid and use Hakka to speak to the kid but found that the kid on the other side could not speak Hakka. Later check that his daughter was safe in the school.
My brother-in-law make a police report on the incident.
I wonder how they could have the kid details and phone number of the parent?

Subject: Snatch Theft and Assault at SS14
From: thteoh@sjecho.com.my
To: thteoh@sjecho.com.my

Good morning everyone

Yesterday evening there was a little chaos along SS14/7C and also SS14/7F. A family was robbed by the roadside and another resident was injured in a scuffle with snatch thieves who got nasty.

First case

A family of three were on their way to a friends house along ss14/7C when two Indian men approached them brandishing a long parang. Afraid for the safety of his wife and daughter, the man gave in to the demands from the two men to hand over his valuables.

Second scenario

In what appears to be a case committed by the same men immediately after the first case, a group of residents along SS14/7F were approached by the same men. Suspecting something amiss, the residents ran into their home while another male resident ran towards the backlane with the two men on pursuit armed with a parang. Unfortunately he fell and was attacked with the parang. He suffered quite serious injuries to his arm. He described the injury "...the parang cut through my bone and any further my arm would have dropped off". He is undergoing surgery later today.

These 2 incidences have stressed the point that no level of alertness can prepare us for such an attack on our sanctity. It is time to act and fight back instead of holing ourselves up at home denying the fact that such a thing cud happen to us.

Please be alert for :

2 Indian men - one plump and the other skinny. They were last seen on a motorcycle with a red shirt and another with a dark colour shirt. No bike registration number was spotted.
If you see any suspicious characters along our streets, call the police immediately. Don't hesitate to call. Remember...you could be next on their list!!
thanks

Revised Security Protocol For SS 19/1

In our continuing efforts to improve the effectiveness of the security protocols, the Pro-tem Committee members have carried out a review of the initial arrangement. After detailed deliberations and site investigation, we have decided to implement the following measures:
1) Guard Post
The existing two guard posts along SS19/1 main road have been relocated to the positions shown on the road map attached. In addition, another guard post is to be placed at the entrance to SS19/1G to secure the areas in SS19/1F, 1G, 1H . The guard post opposite SS17 remains at its original location.
2) Patrolling
Patrolling is being carried out under two zones, Zone ‘A’ and Zone ‘B as indicated on the map. One guard on constant patrol has been dedicated for the area under Zone ‘A’. Another guard is required to patrol the rest of the area under zone ‘B’. In between patrolling rounds, the guards shall stay at the two stations situated at both ends of the Road SS19/1 to enhance security visibility.
3) Manpower
With the above arrangement, the total number of guards per shift shall be six, ie four at the guard posts and two on patrol.
4) Check Points at the Guard posts
To improve the effectiveness of monitoring vehicles entry to the residential area, the Committee has put in place the following measures:
4.1) The flow of traffic at the guard post is being managed by means of traffic cones.
4.2) All vehicles belonging to residents and office/ shop staff shall be allowed to pass
the guard posts unhindered. Participating residents without car stickers shall be
requested to obtain the stickers for smooth access.
4.3) Non participating residents are encouraged to join the Residents Association to facilitate the monitoring of vehicle entry and better ensure a neighborhood that is safe, peaceful and harmonious for all.
4.4) Suspicious characters, contractors and outside workers shall be stopped and have their personal particulars recorded.
4.5) Midnight Enforcement ( 0000 hrs to 0600 hrs )
All access at the guard posts shall be through single lane only. Contractor lorries and non residents shall not be allowed entry unless authorized.
5) Hotline
In the event of a need to call the security guards, residents can call the following telephone number: 019 632 7098
The successful implementation of an effective security protocol in our SS19/1 community and its sustainability rest on the cooperation and collective effort of all residents.
The above-mentioned measures are for the sole purpose of providing a safer environment and peace of mind for all the residents.
The Pro-tem Committee hopes that the new measures would be met with your kind approval and full cooperation.

Security Protocol For SS 19/1

Based on resolutions of 11 January gathering of residents at the surau compound the Protem Committee began to search the most appopriate security arrangement for the community.
First it organised a function to expose to the residents of the need and importance security to the community on 28th February 2009 at the community circle at SS 19/1G. This function was officiated by ADUN of Subang Jaya YB Hanna Yeoh and attended by about 500 residents. The Protem Committee managed to sign in 250 residents for the proposed Resident Association.
With the support of the residents the Protem Committee embark on a campaign to enlist residents to participate in security protocol of SS 19/1 to be implemented on 1st May 2009. Under this arrangement each house is charged Rm 60 per month with one time payment of RM 30 for cost of infrastructure. At the time of implementation we have 386 paid members.
The search for security service provider was done in transparent manner where we send quotations to five companies and only 3 replied. Evaluations were done by the protem committee and a company was selected. The security protocol for SS 19/1 commenced at 0700 1st May 2009.
There were considerable differences of opinion between the Protem Committee
and the security service provider and this resulted in parting of ways at 7 pm on 15th June 2009.
Another quotation was sent to seven companies for the provision of security service and only six responded. After careful evaluation a company was selected to provide security service on probation commencing at 7 pm 15th June 2009. After 5 days of operation the company on mutual consent withdrew it services.
The present security service provider was selected to commence the operation on 24th June 2009 on two weeks probation. Thus far it has proven to be a reliable and conforms to our expectations.
During the 4 days we were without any security service two occurences were reported. One was attempted snatching at SS 19 1H and smashing of car screen at SS 19/1A.
Let us hope that with the security protocol in place SS 19/1 will be a better place to stay. The protem committee is appealling all residents to join so that we can serve you better and to reduce the monthly subscription. Get your neighbour to join.

Security Issues

Dear members of SS 19/1 Community,

On 10th July at about 2 am in the morning, our patrol security personnel spotted 3 individuals loitering at entrance to SS 19/1C. When asked they give suspicious answers. When pressed further they tried to attack our security personnel. He called for helped and his colleague from post no 1 came. The three individuals tried to run but one was caught. The security personnel called the police and the police came in about 3 mins. They brought the suspect to the police station. I was informed by Sub Inspector Arrifin urine test was done on the suspect but came out negative. As they have not committed any crime yet they were released. The moral of the story is our security personnel did manage to prevent crime being committed. Without them the trio could have gone to any of the houses in our community.

The idea of forming SS 19/1 Resident Association

The idea of forming SS 19/1 Resident Association was mooted by the Surau Al-Ikhlas committee in late 2008. At that time the members saw many crimes happening in our area. As part of the surau social responsibility it was best that the surau initiated a gathering of all residents to discuss on security matters.
A gathering was held at the surau compound on 11th January 2009 which was attended by 250 residents. The police were invited to the meeting. The outcome of the meeting were resolutions to form resident association of SS 19/1 and to explore the implementation of security protocol for SS 19/1.
A protem committee for the Resident Association was formed comprising the followings:
Tuan Hj Radin Nasirudin Bin Hj Munir Chairman (Also Surau Chairman)
En Mohamad Noh Samik Secretary (Also Surau Secretary)
En Musadeq Bin Sulaiman Treasurer (Also Surau Treasurer)
The Committee Members are:
Mr Chin Fook Khiang

Mr Koshy Thomas
Mr Lau Eng Dian
Mr Lee Yew Pern
Hj Pauzi Bin Sulaiman
Mr S Selvarajah
Mr Suresh Kumar
Mr Tan Teng Yoke
En Wan Jasmi Bin Wan Ali
En Zulkifli Abdullah
An application for the formation of the resident association was filed at the Registrar of Societies Selangor on 3rd March 2009 and still waiting for the outcome.

En Mohd Noh,My neighbor leaves his gates wide open till dawn on several occasions. But what I wish to highlight is that today at 12.36am the patrol security forces on 2 motor bikes came by , blasted their horns to wake up the house occupants. After several minutes and getting no response they proceeded to close the gates and I heard them making a call / a report.I just like to express my view that it was a commendable effort on their part considering that the said neighbor is not a participant to the community security service. How do we urge everyone to participate, when the service( at a tiny fee) is clearly a benefit for all!

Dear Residents,

It has been nearly three months since we started our security protocol in SS19/1. It was quiet an experienced, not only to the committees but also to the residents in particular. Today our residents can have the comfort of securities manning the entrance to SS19/1 and constants patrolling. We as the committee will constantly looking ways to improve our security and welcome any suggestion from the residents.
