Update on Dengue Cases

Dear Residents

There seem to be a raised in the dengue cases with 18 cases of Dengue Fever and one cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever reported from 10th January to 23rd January. According to the statistic provided by our Councillior Madam Theresa Ratnam Thong, 15 cases were reported in SS18 and 3 cases in SS14.

There was no recent case reported in our neighbourhood except for the one reported in the 2nd week of December 2009. The one reported came as no surprise especially when it was found out that nearly half of the houses inspected during our community goyong royong campaign on the 5th December 2009 were found to have some traces of suspected Aedes larvae and the house owners were fined RM100 by MPSJ.

Let us all play our part to ensure that not only our neighbourhood is free from crime but also free from dengue by make the extra effort and spend 10 minutes a day to check and to ensure our house is not a breeding site for Aedes larvae. Some of the residents complained about the RM100 fine but for me it is a good reminder because RM100 value cannot compared with the value of your loved one.

Chinese New Year Holiday

Dear Residents

Once again we are in the period of festivity as the Chinese New Year is around the corner. The excitement to celebrate this festive holiday should caused anxiety for some residents especially for those who need to travel outstation and leave their houses vacant. In this current situation what the resident can do is only to pray that their houses will not fall to the prey of vultures who always take advantages of the situation.

For this reason, members who prescribed to the security arrangement are encourages to fill up the form with security guards and the committee so they can easily monitor your houses. The guard will slip in a visitation slip inside the post box during every visit. This is to ensure that the guard monitor and patrol the houses. These arrangements were successfully implemented during the last year Raya’s holiday and received good response from the members and none of the houses were broken during those long holiday. However we needs to be reminded that these security arrangement is not all foolproof but perceive it as a comfort of an additional security layer to our neighbourhoods.

The forms are available at all the guard houses.

Crime Caught in CCTV

Dear Resident

First of all I would like to wish all residents Happy New Year. We are now on the 10th year of the new millennium and it seem as only yesterday when we were caught with the euphoria of Y2K were million were spent to overcome the computer glitch that never came. I would also would like to apologise for not updating the blog as I was rather busy with school holiday.

Now back to business and what better way to start with if not for another crime story. I received a very interesting email from SJ Alert regarding a lady lossing her handbag inside a restaurant and the suspect criminals were caught on CCTV. Here is her story and you can view the CCTV pictures via the link below.

My handbag was stolen last week and you can view the power point of the pictures taken off the security camera of Sunway Pyramid. Xandria and I were at a private function at Thai Thai Restaurant seated at the VIP table in a private area of the restaurant and yet my rather big hand bag which was placed on the floor between my seat and Xandria's was stolen.

We did not move away from our seats at any point of time. There were 8 other people at our table and another 2 tables of VIP guests and journalists in the same room and none of us noticed anyone coming near us except the waiters serving our table.

It's really incredible how that happened. They look like a middle eastern couple. This is to remind everyone to be very careful as these are professionals and it can happen to anyone. Please send the power point to all your families and friends as this may help prevent further such incidences.

Regards,
Susan
