Dumping Day For SS 19/1 Subang Jaya

On 21st August, with the co-operation of Alam Flora, the Pertubuhan Penduduk Jalan SS 19/1 organised the first Dumping Day event for the benefit of our member residents. This was organised as part of Alam Flora's Kawasan Angkat program with SS 19/1 to help us "make  SS 19/1 a better place to stay"

The response was much better than anticipated. About 25 members left their unwanted items outside their houses for collection. These items included tables, chairs, sofa sets, mattresses, carpets, travelling bags,TV sets, refrigerators, etc. The collection started at about 8.30 am and ended at 1.00 pm. In view of the good response we will organise the similar event prior to all the festive seasons.

SS 19/1 COMMUNITY CARNIVAL - AN OBSERVATION

Dear members of SS 19/1 community
It is almost a month since our last SS19/1 Community Carnival. The general feeling was that the carnival was a huge success. The events were well participated beyond expectation.Since this is the first time we are organising it we recognised there were several short comings.
The walk for health was well participated and competitiveness was never anticipated. In the next edition this element should be incorporated.
The musical presentation was well conducted even though it was performed by non professionals. The students performed very well and deserved huge applause.
The food stalls did very good sale and food was finished early.About Rm 7000 worth of food coupons were sold during the day.The committee initially encountered difficulty to find people to take up the food stalls and due to this we have to subsidise the food stall rental. For next edition of the carnival we have to make profit from this rental.
For the children we may have to put in place more activities.
We were grateful to the qicong group headed by Puan Khadijah. This group helped a lot inspite of many of the members are not residing in SS 19/1.We were grateful to four individuals who helped to manage the walk for health. We were also grateful to Ms Reena and her relatives for financing and production of program books. A big thank you to En Shahrein of Friends Advertising for his efforts in designing and artwork of the brochures and program books.
The greatest drawback in organising this year carnival is to get residents to assist in the organisation of the event. All in all the the bulk of the organising and implementation of the event were done by committee members. It is hoped that in the next edition of the carnival more residents will come onboard to assist in running of the carnival.

SS19/1 Community Carnival

Dear Resident,

On behalf of the organising committee , we would like to express our thanks to the residents for your support in making our maiden SS19/1 Community Carnival a success. All the events such as 'Walk for Health', children color contest and launching of 'Kawasan Angkat by Alam Flora' received overwhelming respond.
More than 150 registered for the Walk for Health when registration opened at a 7.0am. It was a colorful affair as residents from all walks of life came in group of families and friends, young and old eager for the 3.5km walk around SS19/1 and its surrounding neighborhoods. Qigong warm-up exercise was conducted before the start of the walks. Several prizes were given based on categories such as the oldest and youngest participants as well as family group participants.

The Carnival was officially launched by Mr. Rajiv Rishyakaran representing YB Hannah Yeoh and Tuan Haji Mohd Zain Hj Hassan, Chief Operating Officer Alam Flora  in conjunction with the launched of  SS19/1 'Kawasan Angkat Bersih'. In his speech, Rajiv announced YB Hannah Yeoh pledged of RM3,000.00 from her 'State Peruntukan' to funds the Carnival. He further commended the organising committee for involving  Polis, Bomba and Alam Flora in the carnival and would like SS19/1 to lead Subang Jaya in showing example how to dispose the rubbish properly and keep the neighborhood clean. Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya was represented by En. Azli, officer-in-charge of Zon 1 (SS12 to SS19).

The inspiring speech by Tuan Haji Mohd Zain during the opening ceremony on garbage collection and reasons for SS19/1 was chosen as their maiden ‘Kawasan Angkat Bersih’ received huge applause from the residents. He also expressed his delighted at the presence of large turn-out and has no regret in skipping four other events held on the same day just to be with SS19/1community. He spoke about a Gotong Royong event he attended which received lukewarm respond from the residents and end up only being participated by staffs of Alam Flora and Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya. He commended the residents for their support and the active residents’ association.

While is too early to judge the successfulness of our maiden 19One Community Carnival, the turnout from both the residents and visitors were both astonishing and surprising. All the activities planned for the day received overwhelming response from the residents.

The tent for the children color contest organized by Alam Flora was full of children eagerly wanting to show off their drawing skill under the watchful eyes of their parents.  The presence of Malaysian former Miss Universe Nadin Thomas as the judge added further excitement and spice to the atmosphere.

Residents and visitors rushed to the stalls as early at 9pm with food and beverages stalls being the main target resulted in long queue. Variety of foods were sold such as nasi lemak, mee kari, capati, ikan bakar, satay and not to be missed cendul. All coupons meant for food and drink was sold-out. RM5,000.00 worth of coupons were sold before the carnival while another RM2,000.00 were sold at the carnival.

A part from the 24 garrage stalls and 12 food & beverage stalls, visitors were also entertained by live band performed by The Republic Seventenians SMK SS17 together with guest singer Jennifer Balan, a veteran and versatile singer from Tenaga Nasional. While Jennifer Balan sang to the tune of the oldies, the hip hop fans were not to be disappointed when Joe Fizzlow king of hip hop, a resident of SS19/1himself made a special appearance and entertained the crowd with few entertaining songs.

The Republic Seventenians consists of students, ex-students and teachers of SMK 17 Subang Jaya, all passionate toward music did a wonderful performance. There was also a popular song 'Rindu Bayangan' which was sang by JJ's own daughter. The Republic Seventenians even emerged 1st in the band category during the recent DIGI Live Sekolah Ku Berbakat.

There were also exhibitions from Polis and Bomba for the benefit of the residents and visitors. Residents and visitors were allowed to get a closer look at the Bomba vehicle while children were seen jumping in and out of the vehicle enjoying themselves. The presence of Polis and Bomba  really add spice and excitement to the carnival atmosphere.

Finally, it was quite a relief when the clock turned 2.30pm as the numbers of visitors start to dwindle and stall operators began to pack their day sales. The efforts by so many and times taken to plans which took nearly 6 months to realize was finally over.
The organising committee would like to express our deepest appreaciation to those whole have contributed to the success of this carnival especially to YB ADUN Hannah Yeoh, Alam Flora, PDRM, BOMBA, MPSJ and to all the sponsors who have faith on us in realising this carnival.

The committee would also like to apologies for any short coming during the carnival. We believe with the continuous support from the residents and relevant authorities, the future carnival will be more grand and better.

Last Committee Meeting

Dear Residents

The 2010/2011 Jalan SS19/1 Residents' Association held their last committee meeting on 2nd March 2011 at Persatuan office before the coming AGM. It was a bit emotional affair as the committee has been together since the inception of the association since 2009.

Along the years we have known each others closer as one resident with one voice in SS19/1 which before this was alien to one another. We have many fond memories, faces many setback as well as praises from residents and community leaders in our effort to make SS19/1 a better place stay.

I personally would like to thanks all the committee especially for those who are not seeking reelection in the AGM for their hard works and commitments shown throughout the years.

Dear Members Of SS 19/1 Community,

On Wednesday 13th Oct 2010 the the Pertubuhan AJK met up with Dr KM Loi, our new Councillor for MPSJ in charge of Zone 1. Various issues were discussed.  One issue suggested was the setting up of a recycling centre for the collection of various dry household wastes like newspapers, magazines, iron metal, electrical appliances, alluminium tins, plastic, glass materials, etc.  Dr Loi recommended we work closely with Pertubuhan Amal Seri Sinar.

Following discussions with them,we are happy to inform that Pertubuhan Seri Sinar has on 15th Nov placed a recycling box for SS 19/1. The bright orange box is located at the beginning of Sekolah Kebangsaan SS 17 Subang Jaya . Look for the banner near the school.

With this in place, please send all your recycle materials as mentioned above to the recycling box and deposit them through the opening slot into the box. By doing so, you will be doing your part for charity as well as making our SS 19/1 a better place to stay.

If you have bigger items that you can't transport in your car to the recycling box, please call them to pick them up from your house. The contact no is 03-90211888 or email them at  serisinar@recyclecharity.org

With this recycling effort by your Pertubuhan Penduduk Jalan SS 19/1, we sincerely hope you will make an extra effort to help us make the environment of SS 19/1 cleaner and a better place to stay.

Local Girl from SS 19/1A, Nadine Ann Thomas is Miss Universe Malaysia 2010

THERE was a time in her life when Nadine Ann Thomas felt she was ugly. Growing up as a chubby girl in Subang Jaya, Selangor. The Miss Universe Malaysia 2010 knows how it feels like to suffer from an inferiority complex growing up as a teenager. Nadine had spent most of her time growing up in Subang Jaya, having studied in SRK Subang Jaya and SMK Subang Utama and ended up with the Limkokweng University. Nadines, 23, is of mixed parentage, her dad is Indian whereas her mum is half Chinese and half Eurasian both of whom are from Seremban. Nadine's father is a senior civil servant and mother, a chartered secretary.
Her self-confidence was given a boost when her parents sent her to piano and taekwando classes generally making her a happier person. She says that her mother taught her take better care of herself.
The teenage Nadine soon went from frump to femme losing her baby fat naturally thanks to the taekwando classes. Nadine’s past helped to shape her into the lovely person that she is today, not to mention the intelligence, grace and beauty that comes with the package. The slender Nadine today is a bona fide beauty queen who’s is required to fulfill her obligations as the reigning Miss Universe Malaysia. She is also involved  as an events and talent coordinator, despite clinching the title.
Having recently returned from Las Vegas where the Miss Universe 2010 competition was held, this Limkokwing London alumni hopes to be a role model for young girls in Malaysia by responding that there is nothing that women in Malaysia cannot achieve, we just have to put our mind to it

Syabas to our Polis

These photos were taken when I went to Balai Polis Subang Jaya to fill in the 'Balik Kampong Form' on the eve of Hari Raya Aidil Fitri on 9th September 2010. Both Tuan Sulaiman and Tuan Ariffin were seen giving instructions to their Polis team. They reminded them to be on full alert as most of the Subang Jaya residents' will be away for the long holiday leaving their house vacant.

They sacrifices their leaves and has to works at a time when they are suppose to be with their loved to ensure the security and safety of Subang Jaya residents. Residents will now have the comfort of being away knowing that their properties and belonging will be look after by a dedicated and committed Polis team lead by Tuan Sulaiman and his team.

True enough when I came back from kampong, everything was intact and in my post box were full of visitation slips from the polis as well as from our security guards.

Syabas to the Polis and our Security Guards!!!

Happenings At SS 19/1

Dear Members Of SS 19/1 Community,

5th August was a very eventful day for SS 19/1. The first event was around 3 pm where I spotted a suspicious character loitering around the the back lane  of my block of houses. When asked what was he doing the answer was trying to cut grass. The answer was not convincing enough as grass cutting should be done in the lawn in front and not at the back lane. When pressed further he drove off as fast as possible.

About 8 pm our security personnel caught two maids trying to run away. The maids were then returned to their employer.

Two hours later our security personnel caught a suspicious nepalese. When questioned he told that a maid in Jalan SS 19/1 wanted to to befriend him. He came in a taxi from Mont Kiara. Since he could not give a satisfactory answer we handed him to the police. It was suspected that he may coming to pickup the running away maids.

I complemented the security personnel for jobs well done.

Yous Sincerely

19One Golf Open Subang Jaya

Dear Members Of SS 19/1 Community,

As has been circulated earlier The Pertubuhan will be organising a golf tournament named 19One Golf Open Subang Jaya on 19th June 2010. Happenings At SS 19/1

Dear members of SS 19/1 community,

The week 10-16 May had been a very trying week for our community. During this week one of our security personnel was bitten by a dog and another was knocked by a car. Both incidents had been amicably resolved by concerned parties. On the 13th May around 7 30 pm our member's house in SS 19/1A was broken into. Luckily his son was in the house and he did put a fight and this made the burglar ran away leaving his (the burglar's car) in front of the house. The car was a left hand drive BMW convertable. According to the police at that point in time the car has not been reported stolen. So this is not an ordinary burglar. What was interesting about this incident was a few days later he surrendered to Subang Jaya Police and he was properly identified by the victim. The reason for the surrender was the car he left behind while fleeing belonged to his sister. Had he not surrendered the sister will be in trouble. I apologised for not emailing this incident much earlier.
