SS19/1 Community Carnival

Dear Resident,

On behalf of the organising committee , we would like to express our thanks to the residents for your support in making our maiden SS19/1 Community Carnival a success. All the events such as 'Walk for Health', children color contest and launching of 'Kawasan Angkat by Alam Flora' received overwhelming respond.
More than 150 registered for the Walk for Health when registration opened at a 7.0am. It was a colorful affair as residents from all walks of life came in group of families and friends, young and old eager for the 3.5km walk around SS19/1 and its surrounding neighborhoods. Qigong warm-up exercise was conducted before the start of the walks. Several prizes were given based on categories such as the oldest and youngest participants as well as family group participants.

The Carnival was officially launched by Mr. Rajiv Rishyakaran representing YB Hannah Yeoh and Tuan Haji Mohd Zain Hj Hassan, Chief Operating Officer Alam Flora  in conjunction with the launched of  SS19/1 'Kawasan Angkat Bersih'. In his speech, Rajiv announced YB Hannah Yeoh pledged of RM3,000.00 from her 'State Peruntukan' to funds the Carnival. He further commended the organising committee for involving  Polis, Bomba and Alam Flora in the carnival and would like SS19/1 to lead Subang Jaya in showing example how to dispose the rubbish properly and keep the neighborhood clean. Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya was represented by En. Azli, officer-in-charge of Zon 1 (SS12 to SS19).

The inspiring speech by Tuan Haji Mohd Zain during the opening ceremony on garbage collection and reasons for SS19/1 was chosen as their maiden ‘Kawasan Angkat Bersih’ received huge applause from the residents. He also expressed his delighted at the presence of large turn-out and has no regret in skipping four other events held on the same day just to be with SS19/1community. He spoke about a Gotong Royong event he attended which received lukewarm respond from the residents and end up only being participated by staffs of Alam Flora and Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya. He commended the residents for their support and the active residents’ association.

While is too early to judge the successfulness of our maiden 19One Community Carnival, the turnout from both the residents and visitors were both astonishing and surprising. All the activities planned for the day received overwhelming response from the residents.

The tent for the children color contest organized by Alam Flora was full of children eagerly wanting to show off their drawing skill under the watchful eyes of their parents.  The presence of Malaysian former Miss Universe Nadin Thomas as the judge added further excitement and spice to the atmosphere.

Residents and visitors rushed to the stalls as early at 9pm with food and beverages stalls being the main target resulted in long queue. Variety of foods were sold such as nasi lemak, mee kari, capati, ikan bakar, satay and not to be missed cendul. All coupons meant for food and drink was sold-out. RM5,000.00 worth of coupons were sold before the carnival while another RM2,000.00 were sold at the carnival.

A part from the 24 garrage stalls and 12 food & beverage stalls, visitors were also entertained by live band performed by The Republic Seventenians SMK SS17 together with guest singer Jennifer Balan, a veteran and versatile singer from Tenaga Nasional. While Jennifer Balan sang to the tune of the oldies, the hip hop fans were not to be disappointed when Joe Fizzlow king of hip hop, a resident of SS19/1himself made a special appearance and entertained the crowd with few entertaining songs.

The Republic Seventenians consists of students, ex-students and teachers of SMK 17 Subang Jaya, all passionate toward music did a wonderful performance. There was also a popular song 'Rindu Bayangan' which was sang by JJ's own daughter. The Republic Seventenians even emerged 1st in the band category during the recent DIGI Live Sekolah Ku Berbakat.

There were also exhibitions from Polis and Bomba for the benefit of the residents and visitors. Residents and visitors were allowed to get a closer look at the Bomba vehicle while children were seen jumping in and out of the vehicle enjoying themselves. The presence of Polis and Bomba  really add spice and excitement to the carnival atmosphere.

Finally, it was quite a relief when the clock turned 2.30pm as the numbers of visitors start to dwindle and stall operators began to pack their day sales. The efforts by so many and times taken to plans which took nearly 6 months to realize was finally over.
The organising committee would like to express our deepest appreaciation to those whole have contributed to the success of this carnival especially to YB ADUN Hannah Yeoh, Alam Flora, PDRM, BOMBA, MPSJ and to all the sponsors who have faith on us in realising this carnival.

The committee would also like to apologies for any short coming during the carnival. We believe with the continuous support from the residents and relevant authorities, the future carnival will be more grand and better.

One for the family
