Recycling Box For SS 19/1

Dear Members Of SS 19/1 Community,

On Wednesday 13th Oct 2010 the the Pertubuhan AJK met up with Dr KM Loi, our new Councillor for MPSJ in charge of Zone 1. Various issues were discussed.  One issue suggested was the setting up of a recycling centre for the collection of various dry household wastes like newspapers, magazines, iron metal, electrical appliances, alluminium tins, plastic, glass materials, etc.  Dr Loi recommended we work closely with Pertubuhan Amal Seri Sinar.

Following discussions with them,we are happy to inform that Pertubuhan Seri Sinar has on 15th Nov placed a recycling box for SS 19/1. The bright orange box is located at the beginning of Sekolah Kebangsaan SS 17 Subang Jaya . Look for the banner near the school.

With this in place, please send all your recycle materials as mentioned above to the recycling box and deposit them through the opening slot into the box. By doing so, you will be doing your part for charity as well as making our SS 19/1 a better place to stay.

If you have bigger items that you can't transport in your car to the recycling box, please call them to pick them up from your house. The contact no is 03-90211888 or email them at  serisinar@recyclecharity.org

With this recycling effort by your Pertubuhan Penduduk Jalan SS 19/1, we sincerely hope you will make an extra effort to help us make the environment of SS 19/1 cleaner and a better place to stay.

Regards

Local Girl from SS 19/1A, Nadine Ann Thomas is Miss Universe Malaysia 2010

THERE was a time in her life when Nadine Ann Thomas felt she was ugly. Growing up as a chubby girl in Subang Jaya, Selangor. The Miss Universe Malaysia 2010 knows how it feels like to suffer from an inferiority complex growing up as a teenager. Nadine had spent most of her time growing up in Subang Jaya, having studied in SRK Subang Jaya and SMK Subang Utama and ended up with the Limkokweng University. Nadines, 23, is of mixed parentage, her dad is Indian whereas her mum is half Chinese and half Eurasian both of whom are from Seremban. Nadine's father is a senior civil servant and mother, a chartered secretary.
Her self-confidence was given a boost when her parents sent her to piano and taekwando classes generally making her a happier person. She says that her mother taught her take better care of herself.
The teenage Nadine soon went from frump to femme losing her baby fat naturally thanks to the taekwando classes. Nadine’s past helped to shape her into the lovely person that she is today, not to mention the intelligence, grace and beauty that comes with the package. The slender Nadine today is a bona fide beauty queen who’s is required to fulfill her obligations as the reigning Miss Universe Malaysia. She is also involved  as an events and talent coordinator, despite clinching the title.
Having recently returned from Las Vegas where the Miss Universe 2010 competition was held, this Limkokwing London alumni hopes to be a role model for young girls in Malaysia by responding that there is nothing that women in Malaysia cannot achieve, we just have to put our mind to it

Syabas to our Polis

These photos were taken when I went to Balai Polis Subang Jaya to fill in the 'Balik Kampong Form' on the eve of Hari Raya Aidil Fitri on 9th September 2010. Both Tuan Sulaiman and Tuan Ariffin were seen giving instructions to their Polis team. They reminded them to be on full alert as most of the Subang Jaya residents' will be away for the long holiday leaving their house vacant.

They sacrifices their leaves and has to works at a time when they are suppose to be with their loved to ensure the security and safety of Subang Jaya residents. Residents will now have the comfort of being away knowing that their properties and belonging will be look after by a dedicated and committed Polis team lead by Tuan Sulaiman and his team.

True enough when I came back from kampong, everything was intact and in my post box were full of visitation slips from the polis as well as from our security guards.

Syabas to the Polis and our Security Guards!!!

Happenings At SS 19/1

Dear Members Of SS 19/1 Community,

5th August was a very eventful day for SS 19/1. The first event was around 3 pm where I spotted a suspicious character loitering around the the back lane  of my block of houses. When asked what was he doing the answer was trying to cut grass. The answer was not convincing enough as grass cutting should be done in the lawn in front and not at the back lane. When pressed further he drove off as fast as possible.

About 8 pm our security personnel caught two maids trying to run away. The maids were then returned to their employer.

Two hours later our security personnel caught a suspicious nepalese. When questioned he told that a maid in Jalan SS 19/1 wanted to to befriend him. He came in a taxi from Mont Kiara. Since he could not give a satisfactory answer we handed him to the police. It was suspected that he may coming to pickup the running away maids.

I complemented the security personnel for jobs well done.

Yous Sincerely

Dear Members Of SS 19/1 Community,

As has been circulated earlier The Pertubuhan will be organising a golf tournament named 19One Golf Open Subang Jaya on 19th June 2010. Happenings At SS 19/1

Dear members of SS 19/1 community,

The week 10-16 May had been a very trying week for our community. During this week one of our security personnel was bitten by a dog and another was knocked by a car. Both incidents had been amicably resolved by concerned parties. On the 13th May around 7 30 pm our member's house in SS 19/1A was broken into. Luckily his son was in the house and he did put a fight and this made the burglar ran away leaving his (the burglar's car) in front of the house. The car was a left hand drive BMW convertable. According to the police at that point in time the car has not been reported stolen. So this is not an ordinary burglar. What was interesting about this incident was a few days later he surrendered to Subang Jaya Police and he was properly identified by the victim. The reason for the surrender was the car he left behind while fleeing belonged to his sister. Had he not surrendered the sister will be in trouble. I apologised for not emailing this incident much earlier.

Selfishness Attitude

Dear Residents

Please be informed that due to the selfishness attitude of some of the residents who complained to MPSJ about our security protocol, the committee have decided to temporary uplift the boom gate and cone manning the entrance to our area in SS19/1. The committee with the support from YB Hannah and Madam Theresa is currently liaising with MPSJ to ractify this issue.

The introduction of the G&G in SS19/1 with the objective to make our area free from crime and a better place to stay has the support from majority of the residents. For the past one year, the crime rate in SS19/1 has dropped tremendously compared to the time prior to its implementation.  However, for those areas who have no G&G, they are not so lucky and at time in constant fear.

Below are some of the recent incidents reported through SJ Alert and hopefully the respective selfish residents will able to think and judge that safety and security is far more important than the minor inconvenient caused by the guard checking at the entrance. Think about your family too...

I would like to relate the actual incident of the house-breaking at the above house. At about 2.25 pm on Saturday 15 May 2010. I received a call from one Mrs. Yap, a resident in SS 15/2D that another house has been broken into in Jalan SS 15/2E and I asked for the exact address and she told me it was Mr. Wong's house which is a few doors from my house. I ran out of my house and saw her standing at my front gate. I was under the impression that the housebreaking was over and I did not arm myself with a rotan stick. Both of us quickly walked towards the house which is 5 houses away from my house. I saw the main electric gate ajar and I walked towards the front grill gate and found that it was broken. The main wooden door was closed. Immediately I heard footsteps from inside the house running down the stairs. The door suddenly opened and 2 Chinese guys holding parangs around 2 feet long and they swung the parangs towards me on my head and I quickly duck away. One of them threw a bag containg a laptop and foreign and Malaysian currencies and coins, crow bar and a long screw driver at me. They then ran towards a waiting car with an accomplice in it. The car is a SILVER HONDA CIVIC REG NO. WPN 3665 and it is not a white colour Honda as reported. I have a very close enounter with the Chinese guys and the description of one of them is tall and well built using baseball cap and the other is short also using baseball cap too. Their ages are between 24 and 28 years. Both are well dressed in T-shirts and Blue Jeans. They also wear sneekers. They wore transparent rubber gloves. One of them carried a back pack. Their modus operandi is the first thing they will press the door bell and if there is no answer, they will break in. To my knowledge, these same guys has broken into not less than 10 houses. I just want to advise that they are armed with parangs. Please inform the police if you see these guys loitering in your area and pressing bells.

Subject: 8 BREAK-INS IN THE SS15/2 AND SS15/3 SINCE THE LAST 2 WEEKS

Dear Robert,

Please be informed of the series of break-ins in our neighbourhood (SS15/2 and SS15/3).

It is confirmed that we have had 8 break-ins since the past 2 weeks. All have been reported. The latest incident was today which happened at SS15/2E at 2:30 PM.

Involved were 3 SMART LOOKING CHINESE GUYS . The car used was a WHITE HONDA CITY NUMBER WPN 3665.  Please be also informed that during this last incident they had parangs with them and also had their face covered. Previously, this was not so. To those that might come across this gang/car please call the POLICE IMMEDIATELY

*Please take note that this was the same gang who had earlier broken into a few houses in this area and was spotted using this SAME CAR or might even be using a DARK GREY WIRA (spotted in SS17 but we did not get this car's plate number)

Thank you,

The SS15 Neighbourhood

Dear residence of USJ ,

Yesterday afternoon I nearly become a victim of car theft

Around 1:00 pm I parked my car in front of my house with steering lock and alarm on and the doors locked. Then I went in to my house for lunch. I did not hear noise or alarm sound but after 10 minutes when I got out of my house my car was GONE !!!!

The sad thing is that when I called police number immediately and requested for help and guess what ? I was asked to call another number in USJ 8. Then the lady on the phone asked me to go to USJ 8 police station to make a report first although I asked her to alert the patrol cars around this area first because my car was missing just a mere 5 to 10 minutes hence it must be somewhere around USJ area ! I do not know whether she had alerted the patrol cars.

By the time I get a friend to send me to USJ 8 poice station my wife called to inform me that she found the car. The car was abandoned about 50 meters from my house. I rushed to the scene and found my car is still locked and with alarm armed and the steering lock is still in place.

According to one eye witness my car was abandoned in the middle of the road ( I guess it was been towed and some how it detached from the tow truck) causing traffic problem and some drivers pushed my car to the road side. However the eye witness did not notice when was my car abandoned what she only heard was many cars horned because my car was blocking the traffic.

I was lucky that I got my car back but many others are not as lucy. So please be extra careful when you park your car and look out for suspicious tow truck going around your area. They could be looking for target to steal.

Dear Members Of SS 19/1 Community,

My last email on the above topic was on 4th Feb. Sometimes I feel that no news is good news for the community and I do not have to send any email. While at the surau tonight some members pointed out the committee should engage with the members all the time and not when some incidents occur. I concurred with the suggestion wish to thank En Azlan Hussein with the idea. I will try to do that and also get other committee members to do the same. I also hope that members will provide feedback, experience and information that can be shared within the community. Just to remind members that we have also our own blog http://ssnineteenone.blogspot.com/ that can be easily accessed.
As for the recent happening it occurred last on tuesday 23/2 at Jalan 1H. Two young boys age around 12-13 years old on bicycles entered a the house compound and tried to break into a car. He was equipped with screw driver. The neighbor saw what was happening and alerted our security personnel. The boys managed to flee leaving one bicycle behind. What was shocking about this incident was very young boys were involved and they could have been doing this for a long time with established network of buyers of stolen items.
Our security personnel have been told to be alert on this.

Campaign Balik Kampung - Rumah Selamat

Balik Kampung – Rumah Selamat’ campaign was launched on 31st January 2010 at the Summit USJ. The campaign which was organised by SJ Alert in collaboration with Subang Jaya Police IPD was launched by Selangor Chief Police Dato’ Khalid bin Abu Bakar. In his speech, Dato’ Khalid stressed that the community can help prevent crimes by cooperating and providing information to the police. This information can be channelled through police hot line numbers, Rakan Cop and SJ Alert. He also urged the residents to inform its neighbours when they are not at home and to be on alert of any suspicious character in the neighbourhood.

Representative from various residents’ associations in the vicinity of Subang Jaya were later presented with a set of ‘Police Balik Kampung Form’ by Dato’ Khalid. Residents who are going outstation for this long festive holiday are advised to inform the police by filling on the forms. The forms are available at all police stations.

During the event, YB Hannah Yeoh also donated RM5,000-00 to the police to purchase new tent for its pondok bit in SS15 Subang Jaya.

Dear members of SS 19/1 Community,

This morning between 6.45 am and 7 15 am our member's house at 19/1 was broken into. The thieves opened up the grill in the front door but unfortunately the door was not locked. Documents, credit cards , hand phone and notebook were stolen. A car key was left on a table in the living room and this was used by the thieves to take away the car (MIVI). Lessons learnt from this incident are:
1) Always keep your gate closed.
2) Always lock your doors
3) Never leave car keys/remotes lying around in living room.
It is unfortunate that break in do occur in spite of our efforts to put up security protocol. The committee has decided to beef up the security protocol and these need the consent of at least 80 % of residents. A circular to this effect was sent to all residents but so far we only manage to get consent from about 25 % of residents. Please help us to help you to "Make SS 19/1 a better place to stay".

Dear members of SS 19/1 community,

On Tuesday 2 Feb 2010 about 1 pm our security personnel caught a suspicious character in our area. This guy claimed that he was from Shah Alam. He parked his motorcycle in front of the mini market and walked to a house in 19/1K. He was caught entering the house and when questioned he claimed that he is collecting a Rm 10 debt from the maid in the house. As his reason was quite flimsy the security personnel called the police. He was taken to the police station by the police who came about 20 minutes later. From what was observed there is high probability that he attempting to break into the house. The quick action of our security personnel has prevented this probability.

Update on Dengue Cases

Dear Residents

There seem to be a raised in the dengue cases with 18 cases of Dengue Fever and one cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever reported from 10th January to 23rd January. According to the statistic provided by our Councillior Madam Theresa Ratnam Thong, 15 cases were reported in SS18 and 3 cases in SS14.

There was no recent case reported in our neighbourhood except for the one reported in the 2nd week of December 2009. The one reported came as no surprise especially when it was found out that nearly half of the houses inspected during our community goyong royong campaign on the 5th December 2009 were found to have some traces of suspected Aedes larvae and the house owners were fined RM100 by MPSJ.

Let us all play our part to ensure that not only our neighbourhood is free from crime but also free from dengue by make the extra effort and spend 10 minutes a day to check and to ensure our house is not a breeding site for Aedes larvae. Some of the residents complained about the RM100 fine but for me it is a good reminder because RM100 value cannot compared with the value of your loved one.

Chinese New Year Holiday

Dear Residents

Once again we are in the period of festivity as the Chinese New Year is around the corner. The excitement to celebrate this festive holiday should caused anxiety for some residents especially for those who need to travel outstation and leave their houses vacant. In this current situation what the resident can do is only to pray that their houses will not fall to the prey of vultures who always take advantages of the situation.

For this reason, members who prescribed to the security arrangement are encourages to fill up the form with security guards and the committee so they can easily monitor your houses. The guard will slip in a visitation slip inside the post box during every visit. This is to ensure that the guard monitor and patrol the houses. These arrangements were successfully implemented during the last year Raya’s holiday and received good response from the members and none of the houses were broken during those long holiday. However we needs to be reminded that these security arrangement is not all foolproof but perceive it as a comfort of an additional security layer to our neighbourhoods.

The forms are available at all the guard houses.

Crime Caught in CCTV

Dear Resident

First of all I would like to wish all residents Happy New Year. We are now on the 10th year of the new millennium and it seem as only yesterday when we were caught with the euphoria of Y2K were million were spent to overcome the computer glitch that never came. I would also would like to apologise for not updating the blog as I was rather busy with school holiday.

Now back to business and what better way to start with if not for another crime story. I received a very interesting email from SJ Alert regarding a lady lossing her handbag inside a restaurant and the suspect criminals were caught on CCTV. Here is her story and you can view the CCTV pictures via the link below.

My handbag was stolen last week and you can view the power point of the pictures taken off the security camera of Sunway Pyramid. Xandria and I were at a private function at Thai Thai Restaurant seated at the VIP table in a private area of the restaurant and yet my rather big hand bag which was placed on the floor between my seat and Xandria's was stolen.

We did not move away from our seats at any point of time. There were 8 other people at our table and another 2 tables of VIP guests and journalists in the same room and none of us noticed anyone coming near us except the waiters serving our table.

It's really incredible how that happened. They look like a middle eastern couple. This is to remind everyone to be very careful as these are professionals and it can happen to anyone. Please send the power point to all your families and friends as this may help prevent further such incidences.

Regards,
Susan
