Security and Safety

Dear Residents

Today one resident went around all the guard post and asked the guard to remove the cones. I don't understand why this resident is willing to do such a thing when all of these are meant for the safety of the residents and the wishes of the majority. We sometime take security and safety for granted much so to those who have not encounter such an incident. I and my wife have encountered several incidents such as snatch and car theft and we knew crime can occured anytime either to ourselve or our family.

Probably it wise for me to publish (with permission) post extracted from the SJ Alert the crimes happening in Subang Jaya and USJ and how lucky we are.

TIMBER LADDER LEFT BY GRASS CUTTERS
Few months back, there was an attempted break in to my house. Fortunately, the house alarm triggered. I reported this to the security guards and they patrol the back of my house. They found a timber ladder hidden under the bushes left by the burglars. I suspected the ladder was left purposely by grass cutters (men) for their night activities. They used the ladder to climb over the fence at the back of my house.

Dear all,

There was a break-in in SS18 (near the school) last Saturday or Sunday
when the owner was away. I was doing a walking together with another
resident when we passed by the resident's house. Police were there
during that time to take reports. Some electrical items were stolen
and most amazing is that the burglars cart away a safe deposit box.

Namaste,
Ken Teo

Subject: Re: SJ Alert EMS Children Kidnap Scam in Subang Jaya

Dear Robert,

For your information, my brother-in-law and his friend recieved phone call from a chinaman (china national) demanding money claiming that they have their children kidnap. They have full information on the kid details.... At the background they heard a kid's plea for help and crying. My brother-in-law was smart to check on his son and found that his son was safe at home. His friend also smart asking to speak direct to the kid and use Hakka to speak to the kid but found that the kid on the other side could not speak Hakka. Later check that his daughter was safe in the school.
My brother-in-law make a police report on the incident.
I wonder how they could have the kid details and phone number of the parent?

Dear Residents

I received this message from OCS Tuna Loi from the Balai Polis USJ on Friday, 03/07/2009

"Yesterday A call was made to one of the parents by a chinese nati using china reg number demanding 50k. During that can hear a child's plea for help at background. Upon check child still safely at school. Advise them (parents) to check their kids whereabouts before they start to ppanic.thanks" I can only add that if you have taught your children "well" in their behaviour after school ends each day there would really be no necessity to doubt their safety.

Subject: Snatch Theft and Assault at SS14

Good morning everyone

Yesterday evening there was a little chaos along SS14/7C and also SS14/7F. A family was robbed by the roadside and another resident was injured in a scuffle with snatch thieves who got nasty.

First case

A family of three were on their way to a friends house along ss14/7C when two Indian men approached them brandishing a long parang. Afraid for the safety of his wife and daughter, the man gave in to the demands from the two men to hand over his valuables.

Second scenario

In what appears to be a case committed by the same men immediately after the first case, a group of residents along SS14/7F were approached by the same men. Suspecting something amiss, the residents ran into their home while another male resident ran towards the backlane with the two men on pursuit armed with a parang. Unfortunately he fell and was attacked with the parang. He suffered quite serious injuries to his arm. He described the injury "...the parang cut through my bone and any further my arm would have dropped off". He is undergoing surgery later today.

These 2 incidences have stressed the point that no level of alertness can prepare us for such an attack on our sanctity. It is time to act and fight back instead of holing ourselves up at home denying the fact that such a thing cud happen to us.

Please be alert for :

2 Indian men - one plump and the other skinny. They were last seen on a motorcycle with a red shirt and another with a dark colour shirt. No bike registration number was spotted.
If you see any suspicious characters along our streets, call the police immediately. Don't hesitate to call. Remember...you could be next on their list!!
thanks

There are more incidents reported which are too depressing to read. The intention to publish these extraction is not to scare the residents but to remind that these crime are real and can happen to any of us. So let us the resident of SS19/1 be united in crime prevention and think of our love one either we are at home or in the office. There are limits for convenient as againts security.
